If any of you follow Megan at A Enter Spooking you have read about her long journey to figure out her dressage horse TC. She seems to have finally found out what is going on physically with the help of Celeste, aka the Traveling Horse Witch. I was curious to know more and found this recent podcast featuring Celeste HERE. It is long but fascinating, including a lot about her background, education, and delving deeply into all things nerve impingement, thoracic sling, and various bio-mechanically dysfunctional equine body parts.
Some things stood out to me. The current emphasis on bandaids like injections for poor equine biomechanics. How little anyone talks about the thoracic sling and how important it is for correct pain free movement. How nerve pain can be so debilitating to a horse. How certain sets of muscles are set up to be sympathetic or antagonist. How where the weight is executing a circle is SO important for correct thoracic sling engagement.
Interesting stuff. What do you think?
Thanks for the link, I'll listen while I do my barn chores later. I'm finding this topic very interesting - particularly owning an undeveloped youngster.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! Her work is very enlightening. I'm really seeing some clarity as to why Jet has had so much trouble truly getting off the forehand.
DeleteI have been finding Meghan's posts fascinating. I will take a listen. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you'll really like it.
DeleteSounds like an interesting topic. There's Dr's that specialize in just about every other part of our systems, why not one that specializes in the nervous system? Nerve pain can be debilitating for people so I imagine it would be the same for horses too.. Thanks for the link.
